Journey notes
Why this route works
Why this trip works for three generations
This route uses one base, Phnom Penh, so you unpack once and most sightseeing sits within a 20 to 30 minute drive. The only longer outing is the Tonle Sap lake, and it is planned as a half-day with a rest stop.
Grandparents get flat walking at the Royal Palace and the National Museum, with shade and seating. Children get a boat ride, a hilltop temple and pool time. Parents get a free afternoon every few days, enough to shop or sleep without cutting the plan short.
Best time to visit Cambodia from India
November to February is the cool, dry season, with temperatures of roughly 22 to 33 C and very little rain. December and January are the busiest and most expensive months, so book rooms early. As of 2026, December is also the month with the fewest crowds among the dry months, though prices still peak.
March to May is hot, and April is the hottest month at up to 36 C. June to October brings heavy rain and lower prices, and flooding can affect rural roads and some attractions around the lake. Families with toddlers or elders generally do better in the dry months. The best time to visit Cambodia guide gives the month-by-month detail.
| Season | Months | What it means for families |
|---|---|---|
| Cool and dry | November to February | Comfortable temperatures and little rain; peak demand and prices, so book early |
| Hot and dry | March to May | Heat builds, April is the hottest month; keep sightseeing to mornings |
| Wet and humid | June to October | Frequent rain and lower prices; lake-side roads can flood |
What this trip costs and what drives the price
The listed price is Rs.42,000 per person, land only, on twin sharing, with flights billed separately. That covers the hotel, transfers, sightseeing and meals as listed in the inclusions below.
Four things move the final figure: the month you travel, the hotel category, how many children share a room, and any boat or activity upgrades at the lake. December and January dates cost more; March and November are often easier on room rates. Indicative tiers, per person, are in the stay section further down. Ask for a quote against your exact dates and the ages of the children before you commit.
Cambodia travel tips for Indian families
Indian passport holders need a Cambodian visa before arrival. The Cambodia visa for Indians page explains the route, and the entry section below covers the basics. Most families also find the Cambodia travel guide useful for the practical background.
English is used in tourist areas, and Khmer is the official language. Tuk-tuks cost roughly USD 1 to 5 per city ride as of March 2026, and PassApp and Grab can be used to book tuk-tuks and cars. Pack light cotton clothes, hats, sunscreen and mosquito repellent, and keep a copy of every passport.

FamilyBooked a family package for 7 nights covering Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil. The Cellular Jail light and sound show on Day 1 set a good tone for the trip. Kids were engaged throughout and the itinerary was not too rushed.
FamilyTravelled with my parents who are in their late 50s. Tripstor recommended two full acclimatization days in Leh before any high-altitude drives and that made a real difference. Tso Moriri was quieter than Pangong and honestly more worth the drive.
FriendsThree friends and I did a 9-night Australia package with stops in Melbourne and Sydney. We spent an afternoon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and caught a local match. Tripstor sorted our group visa applications together which saved a lot of back and forth. Good experience overall.
