Hanoi is the arrival base on most routes from India, followed by a road transfer to the bay and a domestic flight south to Da Nang. Days are left open for slow breakfasts and short drives. Why this route suits a couple and not a group holiday
Group itineraries tend to change hotels almost every night and start early. This one does neither. Three consecutive nights in Hoi An mean you unpack once, keep a rhythm and still reach the old town, the beach and the river on foot or by a short ride.
That matters more than it sounds after an overnight journey from India. Jet lag and early starts do not mix well with a honeymoon, so the two long travel days are kept apart and the middle of the trip stays unhurried.

For couples, the room and setting matter more than the star rating. Look for a quiet room away from the street, a private balcony or pool access, and easy walking or a short ride to the old town and the beach.

Best months for a couple's trip to Vietnam
February to April is the most comfortable period for this route, with roughly 17-32 C and low rainfall in Hue and Hoi An. September to November is the wet season in central Vietnam, with heavy rain and flood risk, and October is the wettest month in Hoi An. Northern Vietnam is cooler from December to February, around 14-18 C in Hanoi, and storms are common from July to September.

Hoi An is the base that matters most on a honeymoon. It is small and walkable, with lantern-lit lanes, tailors and nearby beaches, and suits couples well. Da Nang is the alternative if you prefer a beach and city-dining base with access to Hoi An.
Visa, currency and flights from India
Indian passport holders need a Vietnam visa before travel; apply only through the official Vietnamese government e-visa portal and check it for the current fee and processing time, as rules change. The local currency is the Vietnamese dong (VND); check the live rate on the day you exchange money. As of October 2026, typical flight times from India are about 6.6 to 8 hours to Ho Chi Minh City, 7.2 to 8.5 hours to Da Nang and 7.8 to 9.25 hours to Hanoi, depending on the city of departure and connection, often via Singapore. Fares depend on dates and carrier, so confirm at booking.
What drives the Vietnam trip cost
