Australia Tour Packages from Pune

The best time to visit Australia from India is between March and November, covering autumn, winter, and spring. Australian winter (June to August) stays mild in Sydney and Melbourne and feels comfortable for Indian travellers. If the Great Barrier Reef is on your list, aim for June to October, when rainfall is low and reef visibility is clearest.

A 7-night trip comfortably covers Sydney and Melbourne, the two most popular first-timer cities. To add Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, plan for 10 nights, while a 12-night itinerary lets you fit in the Gold Coast or extended reef and outback time. Most Australia trip packages for first-time visitors settle around the 10-night mark for a balanced pace.

Australia tour packages from India start at around ₹1,50,000 per person for a short 5-night Sydney-only trip and rise to ₹1,80,000 or more for a 10-night Sydney-Melbourne-Cairns itinerary with flights, hotels, and tours. A standard 7-night Sydney-Melbourne route runs ₹90,000 to ₹1,30,000 per person. Flights are the largest cost, so booking 45 to 60 days ahead helps. See our Australia travel guide for Indians for a full cost breakdown.

Australia enforces strict biosecurity rules at every entry point, and you must declare all food, plant material, and animal products on arrival. Undeclared items can lead to fines of up to AUD 2,664. Indian snacks and home-cooked food are commonly flagged at customs, so it's safest to declare anything you're carrying rather than risk a penalty.

Domestic flights on Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar are the fastest way between major cities — Sydney to Melbourne takes about 1 hour 30 minutes and Sydney to Cairns around 3 hours. Trains and coaches suit slower, scenic travel along the east coast. Indian licence holders can drive for up to 3 months, and since Australia uses left-hand traffic like India, self-driving the Great Ocean Road or Blue Mountains feels familiar.

Australia works well for solo travellers, with safe cities, reliable public transport, and easy domestic flights between Sydney, Melbourne, and Cairns. Solo travellers should note that most packages are priced on twin-sharing, so a single supplement typically adds 20 to 30 percent to the per-person cost. Booking guided reef and Blue Mountains day tours in advance also helps, since some run on a shared-group basis.

Australia suits families well, especially Australia family packages built around Sydney and Melbourne, which offer easy sightseeing, the Blue Mountains day trip, and beach time at Bondi. Cairns adds kid-friendly Great Barrier Reef excursions where no diving certification is needed for introductory dives. Shorter city hops and familiar left-hand driving make the country manageable for travellers with children.

Australia uses the Australian dollar (AUD), with 1 AUD equal to roughly ₹55 to ₹57, though rates fluctuate. International debit and credit cards are widely accepted across cities, and ATMs are easy to find in Sydney, Melbourne, and Cairns. Many Indian travellers prefer a forex card loaded with AUD before departure to lock in rates and avoid high transaction fees.

Travel insurance is strongly recommended for Australia and is often expected as part of a subclass 600 visa application, since it demonstrates you can cover medical costs during your stay. A policy covering medical emergencies, hospitalisation, and trip cancellation is the safest choice for the full duration of your visit.
