Package overview
The thinking behind this journey.
A closer look at this 7-night journey through Tanzania— who it's built for, what you'll experience, and why the pace works.
Journey notes
Why this route works
What is a Tanzania honeymoon package?
A Tanzania honeymoon package bundles stays, transfers, game drives and a few couple-only moments into one fixed itinerary. Here that means four nights on the northern safari circuit and three nights on Zanzibar, with one flight between the mainland and the island.
The pace is set for two people. Mornings go to game drives and the balloon, afternoons are left open, and evenings stay free for a private dinner or a dhow cruise. Nothing is shared with a larger group.
How does the route work for a Tanzania honeymoon tour package?
The route runs Arusha, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, then Zanzibar, so you change base only three times. Arusha is the organising centre for northern safaris, and Kilimanjaro International Airport is about one hour away.
Serengeti National Park is the wildlife core, with giraffes, elephants and lions regularly seen on drives. Ngorongoro Crater adds a guided descent for rhinos, giraffes and warthogs. Zanzibar closes the week with beach time, a dhow cruise and an evening in Stone Town.
Which moments are worth planning around?
Four moments shape this trip, and each has a best day on the route. Fix these first and the rest of the days fall into place.
- Sunrise balloon flight, Day 3: the pre-dawn pickup and bush breakfast make this the high point of the safari half. It is weather dependent, so Day 3 leaves a buffer day behind it.
- Crater floor at first light, Day 5: the descent starts early, before vehicles build up. Pack warm layers, as the rim is cooler than the plains.
- Sunset dhow cruise, Day 6: a traditional dhow takes the two of you out at dusk. Best on the first full beach day, when you are rested.
- Forodhani Night Market, Day 7: the Stone Town waterfront market runs 6 to 10pm daily. Go hungry for Zanzibar pizza, octopus skewers and sugarcane juice.
Why does this route suit couples?
The route suits couples because it separates the two moods of the trip: early, active safari days first, then slow coastal days. You are never rushing between camps after the first four nights.
- Privacy: a private 4x4 with your own guide means you set the pace at sightings and can stay longer when a pride of lions is worth watching.
- Setting: the Serengeti plains and the Zanzibar shoreline give two very different backdrops without a long transfer between them.
- Pace: only one internal flight and no daily camp changes, so mornings are not spent packing.
Romantic highlights on this itinerary
The romantic content is a short list of named experiences, each tied to a specific place and day.
- Sunrise hot-air balloon flight over the Serengeti plains, ending with a breakfast laid out in the bush.
- Private game drives in Serengeti National Park, with a sunset drive near the lodge on Day 3.
- Ngorongoro Crater descent at first light, with a packed breakfast eaten on the crater floor.
- Sunset dhow cruise off Zanzibar for two, on Day 6.
- Walking visit of Stone Town, ending at the waterfront for the night market.
- A private dinner for two on a safari night or at the beach resort, if pre-booked.
How the days flow
Safari days start early and finish by mid-afternoon, and beach days start late. On the plains, expect a pre-breakfast game drive, a long lunch and rest at the lodge, then an optional short sunset drive.
Day 3 is the earliest start of the trip because of the balloon pickup, so it is followed by a free afternoon. Day 4 is the longest road day, with roughly four to five hours of driving plus game viewing on the way. From Day 6 there are no alarms: free mornings, one planned outing each day, and open evenings.
Choosing the right stay style
For couples, three things matter more than star rating: view, privacy and access. In the Serengeti, ask for a tented camp or lodge room with a private veranda, and check how far it is from the main game-drive areas.
On the Ngorongoro rim, a room facing the crater is worth requesting, as views vary by room. On Zanzibar, a beachfront or garden villa with a private terrace beats a standard room in a large block. Confirm bed type and room category at booking, and note that sleeping inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area carries a per-night permit fee.
Best months for a couple's trip
June to October is the best window for this route, with little rain, lower humidity and clear days. July to September is peak, so prices are highest and lodges fill early.
Season changes this trip a lot, so here is the month-wise picture as of 2026:
| Months | Weather | Crowds and prices | Fit for this honeymoon |
|---|---|---|---|
| June to October | Dry, 20-30 C, clear days | Medium in June and October; high to peak July to September | Best for game drives and beach days |
| November and December | Short, brief rains, 25-30 C | Low crowds; Christmas and New Year carry peak surcharges at many lodges | Good value, but rain timing is unpredictable |
| January and February | Short dry interlude, 25-30 C | Medium crowds and prices | Good second choice |
| March to May | Long rains, heavy in afternoons | Low crowds and prices; some camps close | Not recommended for this route |
Coastal areas stay hot and humid all year, so Zanzibar is comfortable in any month but wettest in March to May and November to December. If you are travelling from India, school-holiday months cost more, so book early.
Add-ons worth considering
Four add-ons suit this route, and each fits a specific day. All are priced separately, so confirm rates at booking.
- Private dinner for two: best on Day 3 at the Serengeti lodge or Day 6 on the beach, when you have a free evening.
- Spa session: fits the free afternoon after the balloon on Day 3, or a beach morning on Day 6.
- Photographer: most useful for the Day 6 dhow cruise and the Stone Town walk on Day 7, where light is good and time is relaxed.
- Reef snorkelling trip: a half-day outing from the resort on Day 6 or 7, depending on tide and weather.
Safari lodges and a Zanzibar beach resort: what the stays look like
This package uses standard 3-4 star stays: a city hotel in Arusha, a safari lodge or tented camp in the Serengeti, a lodge near the Ngorongoro rim and a beach resort in Zanzibar. Indicative per-person prices, twin sharing, land only, are below.
| Stay tier | Indicative price per person | What it means for a couple |
|---|---|---|
| Budget 3-star | Approx Rs.76,000 | Simpler lodges and resorts, smaller rooms, fewer private touches |
| Standard 4-star (this package) | Rs.1,01,500 | Comfortable lodge or camp rooms, beach resort with private terrace options |
| Premium 5-star | Approx Rs.1,62,500 | Larger suites, better views and more space between rooms |
Extra costs sit outside the base price. Tipping benchmarks are about USD 10 to 20 per person per day for the main guide and USD 5 to 10 for camp staff. At many lodges, Christmas, New Year and school-holiday peaks add USD 50 to 200 per person per night. VAT of 18% on national park fees is sometimes left out of quoted prices, so ask whether it is included.

Visa, money and flights for Indian travellers to Tanzania
Indian passport holders need a Tanzania visa, and the official application route is the Tanzania immigration online portal. Check the official portal for the current fee and processing time, and read our guide to the Tanzania visa for Indians before you apply. Passports should be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.
The local currency is the Tanzanian shilling, and US dollars are widely used for park fees and tips. Since June 2026, Tanzania requires electronic payment by card, mobile money or bank transfer for hotel, restaurant and tourism-service payments, so carry a card that works abroad. Card and ATM access can be unreliable in remote safari areas, so carry some cash for tips. Flights from major Indian cities usually connect through the Gulf or Nairobi to Kilimanjaro or Zanzibar, so check total journey time when you search.

FamilyTravelled with my parents who are in their late 50s. Tripstor recommended two full acclimatization days in Leh before any high-altitude drives and that made a real difference. Tso Moriri was quieter than Pangong and honestly more worth the drive.
CoupleNorway is expensive but the experience is worth planning for. We did the Flam Railway and the Sognefjord on Day 5. Tripstor gave us a realistic budget breakdown before we booked, which I appreciated. No surprises on the ground.
HoneymoonHoneymooned in Kashmir for 7 nights in May. Gulmarg had light snow still and we got a gondola ride on Day 4. The tulip garden in Srinagar was in full bloom. Tripstor arranged a candlelit dinner on the houseboat which was a nice touch.
