The thinking behind this journey.
A closer look at this 6-night journey through Philippines— who it's built for, what you'll experience, and why the pace works.
Journey notes
Why this route works
What makes this route different
This route uses two bases in Palawan, three nights in El Nido and three in Coron, instead of covering four or five islands. Both towns are known for lagoons and limestone cliffs, and both need extra transit time, so fewer moves keep the trip calm.
The first town has more cafes and boat operators, while Coron is quieter with wider bays. Mornings go to boat trips and swims, afternoons are free, and evenings are left open for dinner or simply watching the water.
Moments to plan around on this route
The best moments on this route are the first sunset on Day 1, the lagoon morning on Day 2, a slow Day 3, the Coron boat day on Day 5, and a private dinner on Day 6. Each can be timed to your dates and the weather.
- First sunset, Day 1: walk to the beach after check-in and keep the evening free.
- First boat morning, Day 2: leave early for the lagoons, before the shared boats crowd the main stops.
- Slow morning, Day 3: breakfast late, then decide on a viewpoint trek or nothing at all.
- Private dinner, Day 6: a pre-booked beach or poolside table in Coron, subject to the hotel.
Why this suits couples
This route suits couples because it has one town move, small-scale stays and long stretches of unscheduled time. You are not changing hotels every night, and the boat days are shared with only a few other travellers.
The first half gives you activity, with cafes, viewpoints and short walks. Coron gives you quiet, with fewer people on the water and wider bays. Together they cover both moods of a honeymoon without a long transfer between them.
Romantic highlights
The highlights below are the experiences couples usually remember from this route, each tied to a named place on the itinerary.
- Lagoon day in El Nido: swim and snorkel at two lagoon stops on a shared boat, with lunch on board or on a beach.
- Sunset on the beach: an unplanned evening on Day 1 and again on Day 3, depending on the weather.
- Viewpoint above the bay: an optional short trek on Day 3 for a wide look at the cliffs.
- Coron lagoons and lake: a boat day on Day 5 with swim stops and a snorkelling site.
- Quiet cove in Coron: an optional private boat for two on Day 6, priced separately and confirmed at booking.
- Beach or poolside dinner: a pre-booked private table in Coron on Day 6, subject to the hotel.
How the days flow
Most days follow one pattern: a boat or sightseeing block in the morning, rest in the afternoon, and an open evening. Day 3 and Day 6 have no fixed plan, and Day 4 is a travel day.
Start times are relaxed, usually after a hotel breakfast. Island-hopping days run through lunch and return by mid-afternoon, which leaves time for a swim, a spa session or a nap before dinner.
Choosing the right stay style
For couples, the stay that matters is the one with a sea or garden view, a quiet room away from the main road, and an easy walk or short ride to the jetty or beach. Standard 3-4 star hotels and small resorts cover this in both towns.
Ask about room position when you book. A room on a higher floor or at the quieter end of the property costs little extra at this category, and it changes how restful the nights are. Corong-Corong is a quieter part of El Nido, while Coron town is closer to restaurants and the jetty.
Best months for a couple's trip
December to February is the best window for this route. It is the cool dry season, with Manila averaging 24.3-30.7 C in February and about 22 mm of rain, according to monthly climate data. Rainfall differs by island, so check Palawan forecasts for your dates.
March to May is hotter, and Holy Week in March or April brings a sharp price spike. June to November is the rainy season, with peak typhoon activity from July through October according to the national weather service, so keep boat days flexible if you travel then.
| Period | What to expect on this route |
|---|---|
| December to February | Cool dry season; the easiest months for boat days |
| March to May | Hotter and dry; Holy Week raises prices sharply |
| June to November | Rainy season; typhoon activity peaks July to October |
Add-ons worth considering
The add-ons that fit this trip are a spa session, a private beach dinner and a private boat for two. Each adds comfort or privacy, and each is priced separately and confirmed at booking.
- Spa session: best on Day 3 in El Nido or Day 6 in Coron, when the afternoon is free.
- Private dinner: best on Day 6 in Coron, booked a few days ahead through the hotel.
- Private boat for two: best on a free day, for a quieter lagoon visit away from shared boats. Typical private boat rates in the Philippines run about ₱5,000-₱9,000 per day as of July 2026; confirm the actual rate at booking.
- Photographer: best at sunset on Day 1 or on the Day 5 boat trip, subject to availability.
Stays in Palawan by budget
This package uses standard 3-4 star hotels and small resorts in El Nido and Coron, on twin sharing. Both towns have resorts, boutique hotels and guesthouses at mid-range prices, so a standard category gets you a comfortable room close to the water.
| Stay tier (indicative, per person) | Approx. price | What it usually means |
|---|---|---|
| Budget 3-star | approx. Rs.41,000 | Simple rooms, a walk or short ride from the beach |
| Standard 4-star (this package) | Rs.54,500 | Comfortable rooms, breakfast, easy access to jetties |
| Premium 5-star | approx. Rs.87,000 | Larger rooms or villas, better views and privacy |
Tiers are indicative and move with dates and room type. Peak periods raise rates, while May and June often bring room discounts of 20-30% according to the national tourism site. Confirm the exact property and rate at booking.
Entry, money and flights for Indian travellers to the Philippines
Indian passport holders need a valid passport and should check the entry rules before booking. Our Philippines visa for Indians guide covers the route, and the official portal lists the current fee.
The local currency is the Philippine peso. Carry some cash for tricycles, small boats and airport terminal fees of about PHP 100-200 that a few small airports collect in cash. Flights from India go via Manila or Cebu and take roughly 8 to 10 hours of flying time from major cities, as of October 2026, before the domestic flight to Palawan. HoneymoonHoneymooned in Kashmir for 7 nights in May. Gulmarg had light snow still and we got a gondola ride on Day 4. The tulip garden in Srinagar was in full bloom. Tripstor arranged a candlelit dinner on the houseboat which was a nice touch.
CoupleNorway is expensive but the experience is worth planning for. We did the Flam Railway and the Sognefjord on Day 5. Tripstor gave us a realistic budget breakdown before we booked, which I appreciated. No surprises on the ground.
FamilyBooked a family package for 7 nights covering Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil. The Cellular Jail light and sound show on Day 1 set a good tone for the trip. Kids were engaged throughout and the itinerary was not too rushed.
