Package overview
The thinking behind this journey.
A closer look at this 5-night journey through Peru— who it's built for, what you'll experience, and why the pace works.
Journey notes
Why this route works
What is a Peru honeymoon package and what does this route cover?
A Peru honeymoon package is a land-only itinerary for two that joins Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu at a slower pace than a group tour. This route runs 5 nights and 6 days, priced at Rs.1,08,500 per person on twin sharing (as of 2026), excluding flights.
The route is built around Machu Picchu and the train that reaches it. Two nights are spent in Lima's Miraflores, two in the Sacred Valley and Aguas Calientes combined with Cusco, so the altitude climbs in steps rather than all at once. Cusco gets a morning for the historic centre and San Blas. Lima opens the trip, and the Sacred Valley is covered by private van with very little walking.
Moments to plan around on this route
The best moments on this route are the first quiet evening on the Miraflores cliffs, the slow Sacred Valley afternoon, the early train ride, the morning at the citadel and the last walk through San Blas. Each one sits on a specific day so you can plan surprises around it.
- Day 1 evening: a clifftop walk in Miraflores with the Pacific below, a gentle start after the long flight from India.
- Day 3 sunset: a terrace or valley viewpoint near Urubamba or Ollantaytambo, the best slot for a private dinner or flowers in the room.
- Day 4 morning: the train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu town, running through Andean mountain scenery and small villages.
- Day 5 morning: the citadel with a guide before the midday crowd builds.
Why this route suits couples
This route suits couples because it keeps the days short, the transfers private and the biggest sight timed for the quiet part of the morning. Three reasons stand out.
- Privacy: private transfers and a private van in the Sacred Valley mean no shared coaches and no waiting for a group.
- Setting: the Sacred Valley sits lower than Cusco, so you sleep easier and the afternoons stay relaxed.
- Pace: only the train day and the citadel day are early starts. Day 3 is deliberately light.
Romantic highlights
Six named experiences carry the romance on this route, each tied to a real place on the itinerary.
- Miraflores clifftop walk at dusk, looking over the Pacific from Lima's upscale coastal district.
- Ollantaytambo's Inca terraces, reached by private van with your guide and minimal walking.
- A slow Sacred Valley afternoon with optional spa time if your hotel offers it.
- The Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu train ride, with the Urubamba river beside the track.
- The Machu Picchu citadel, the Inca sacred city, visited with a local guide in the early hours.
- San Blas in Cusco, a historic-centre neighbourhood good for a last unhurried walk and small gifts.
How the days flow
The six days alternate one travel or sightseeing day with one easier day, so neither of you feels rushed. Days 1 and 3 are light, Day 2 is a short flight plus a drive, Day 4 is the train, Day 5 is the citadel and the long return, and Day 6 is a late-morning walk before the airport.
Breakfast is never before dawn except on Day 5, when the citadel visit needs an early bus. Sunset slots on Days 1 and 3 stay free for you. Expect two to three hours of actual sightseeing on most days and the rest as rest, meals and views.
Choosing the right stay style
For couples, room view, privacy and access to the train matter more than star rating. This route uses standard 3-4 star hotels, so look at three things when you choose.
- Lima, Miraflores or Barranco: both are upscale areas that suit couples. Miraflores is the easier base for a first visit.
- Sacred Valley, Urubamba or Ollantaytambo: Urubamba has resort-style stays, while Ollantaytambo puts you closest to the Machu Picchu trains.
- Aguas Calientes: a mid-range town stay at the base of Machu Picchu, best for one night only.
Ask for a garden or valley-facing room where the hotel offers one. Confirm exact properties at booking, since category is fixed and the named hotel can vary by date.
Best months for a couple's trip to Peru
The best months for this trip are May to September, when the Andes are dry and mornings are clear. June to August is peak season with the highest prices and the biggest Machu Picchu crowds.
| Months | Andean weather | Crowds and prices |
|---|---|---|
| May to September | Low rain, clear days, cold nights | High; peak in June to August |
| April and October | Moderate rain | Medium |
| November to December | Rain increasing; heavier by December | Medium, then peak around Christmas |
| January to March | Heaviest rain; landslides can disrupt roads and trains | Low in the Andes |
The Inca Trail closes every February for maintenance. This itinerary uses the train, not the trek, so that closure does not change your plan. Highland nights can be freezing even in the dry season.
Add-ons worth considering
Add-ons make sense when they fit the route's quiet slots, not when they crowd the day. Four are worth asking about.
- Private dinner: best on Day 3 in the Sacred Valley, when the afternoon is free and the pace is slow.
- Photographer: best at the Machu Picchu citadel on Day 5 or in San Blas on Day 6.
- Spa session: fits Day 3 afternoon if your Sacred Valley hotel has one.
- Lake Titicaca cruise or Amazon lodge: neither fits inside 5 nights, so treat them as a separate, longer trip.
Pricing for each add-on depends on the hotel and date. Confirm at booking.
Where couples stay in Lima, the Sacred Valley and Aguas Calientes
Stays are chosen by area first and category second. Indicative per-person tiers for this route, derived from the listed price, are below and are for context only.
| Tier | Indicative price per person | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Budget 3-star | approx Rs.81,500 | Simple, clean rooms in central locations; fewer views and amenities |
| Standard 3-4 star (this package) | Rs.1,08,500 | Comfortable rooms in Miraflores, the Sacred Valley, Aguas Calientes and central Cusco |
| Premium 5-star | approx Rs.1,73,500 | Larger rooms, resort-style Sacred Valley stays, better views and service |
Miraflores and Barranco in Lima are both upscale. In Cusco, the Centro Histórico and San Blas are mid-range and walkable. Urubamba suits couples who want a resort feel, while Ollantaytambo is the practical choice for train access.
Peru entry, money and flights for Indian travellers
Indian passport holders should confirm the current Peru entry rule on the official government portal before booking, since requirements and the fee can change. Check the official portal for the current fee and carry a passport with at least six months' validity.
The local currency is the Peruvian sol, written S/. Do not rely on an exchange rate quoted months earlier. Cards work in Lima and Cusco, but carry some sol for small stops. Flights from India usually connect through a third city to Lima, so allow a full day of travel each way. Domestic Lima to Cusco is a short hop, and Cusco is reached through Lima while Chinchero International Airport remains under construction.
Machu Picchu citadel entry is a separate permit. The standard citadel entry fee is S/152, and Circuit 3 with Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain is S/200. A S/11 conservation charge for foreign tourists was scheduled from May 2026. Daily visitor capacity was set at 5,600 on specified peak dates for 2026. Confirm all permit costs at booking.
Peru travel tips for a couple's first Andean trip
- Keep Day 2 light. Altitude affects people differently, and the Sacred Valley is lower than Cusco.
- Carry layers. Highland nights can be freezing even in the dry season.
- Carry your passports on Days 4 and 5 for the train and the citadel entry check.
- Book permits early for June to August, when demand is highest.

FamilyBooked a family package for 7 nights covering Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil. The Cellular Jail light and sound show on Day 1 set a good tone for the trip. Kids were engaged throughout and the itinerary was not too rushed.
FriendsThree friends and I did a 9-night Australia package with stops in Melbourne and Sydney. We spent an afternoon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and caught a local match. Tripstor sorted our group visa applications together which saved a lot of back and forth. Good experience overall.
CoupleNorway is expensive but the experience is worth planning for. We did the Flam Railway and the Sognefjord on Day 5. Tripstor gave us a realistic budget breakdown before we booked, which I appreciated. No surprises on the ground.
