Journey notes
Why this route works
What is a Jordan honeymoon package?
A Jordan honeymoon package is a couple-only itinerary that combines Petra, a Wadi Rum desert camp and a Dead Sea stay with private transfers and a relaxed daily pace. Our Jordan honeymoon tour package gives the two big moments room to breathe instead of squeezing each into one rushed afternoon.
You spend two nights in Wadi Musa, the town beside Petra, so the day inside the site and the candlelit evening walk do not fall on the same exhausted day. One full night in a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum follows, and the trip ends with a slow Dead Sea morning before the return to Amman. Browse our other Jordan tour packages if you want a longer route with more activities.
Moments to plan around
Four moments are worth planning your days around, and each has a best slot on this route.
- Petra by Night, Day 3: the Siq and the Treasury are lit by candles in the evening. It runs on selected evenings only, so confirm the running date at booking. Day 2 is kept light so you arrive fresh.
- First morning in the Siq, Day 3: enter early, before tour coaches arrive. The light on the rock walls is softest in the first hour.
- Sunset on a rock ledge, Day 4: after the jeep tour, you watch the desert turn from orange to purple before camp dinner.
- Stargazing from the camp, Day 4: with no city light nearby, the sky is the evening's main event. Carry a warm layer.
Why this route suits couples
This route suits couples because the stays are quiet, the drives are short and the evenings are free. Three reasons matter most.
Privacy. Transfers are private, so you travel at your own pace without waiting for a group. In Petra, a guide is booked for the two of you, not for a crowd.
Setting. Rose-coloured sandstone at Petra and open red desert at Wadi Rum give very different backdrops within three days, so the trip never feels repetitive.
Pace. The longest leg, Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea, is about four hours with a comfort stop. Most days have a late start and a long evening.
Romantic highlights
Six experiences carry the romance on this route, each with one detail worth knowing.
- Candlelit Petra by Night: a short walk through the Siq to the Treasury, with candles lining the path. Evenings are limited, so we build in a spare night.
- A private guide inside Petra: your guide walks you past the Street of Facades to the Theatre at your speed.
- Wadi Rum jeep tour: two to three hours with a Bedouin guide, covering Lawrence's Spring, Khazali Canyon and the red dunes.
- Desert camp dinner: dinner is served at the camp on the night you stay.
- Dead Sea float: the salt water holds you up without effort, and the mineral mud is applied at the resort beach.
- Farewell evening in Amman: a free last night for a sit-down dinner or a stop for knafeh, a warm cheese pastry.
How the days flow
The days follow a simple pattern: one main activity, a long break and a free evening. Day 1 is arrival and rest only, with nothing booked.
Day 2 is a morning drive of about 3.5 hours to Wadi Musa, with the afternoon off. Day 3 is the full Petra day, starting early. Day 4 is a short drive of about 1 hour 45 minutes to Wadi Rum, with the jeep tour timed for sunset. Day 5 is the longest drive, but you check in at the Dead Sea by afternoon. Day 6 starts late and ends in Amman. Day 7 is departure.
Choosing the right stay style
For a honeymoon, the stay matters more than the room count: look for view, privacy and access to the main sites. Three types of stay appear on this route.
- Wadi Musa hotel or guesthouse: pick one within a short walk or ride of the Petra entrance, so mornings and evenings are not spent in traffic.
- Wadi Rum desert camp: a twin-share Bedouin tent with a private bathroom is the usual choice for couples. Ask at booking about tent type, since facilities vary by camp.
- Dead Sea resort in Sweimeh: look for a sea-facing room and direct beach access, since the spa and float are the point of the stop.
Best months for a couple's trip
March to May and September to November are the best months for this trip, with mild days and low rainfall. As of 2026, April, May and October are peak months for crowds and prices, so book camp and Petra tickets early.
| Season | Months | Typical temperature | What it means for a couple |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spring | March to May | 7-27 C | Mild, low rain; April and May are peak |
| Summer | June to August | 17-32 C | Hot and dry; lower prices, fewer crowds |
| Autumn | September to November | 9-29 C | Warm to cool; October is peak |
| Winter | December to February | 3-14 C | Cold and wet; flash-flood closures possible in the Siq |
Summer heat can reach 35-45 C at some sites, so start Petra at first light if you travel then.
Add-ons worth considering
Four add-ons suit a honeymoon, and each works best on a specific day.
- Private dinner at the camp, Day 4: a table set apart from other guests under the stars. Needs advance notice.
- Photographer in Petra, Day 3: an hour at the Siq entrance in early light gives you images you will actually frame.
- Spa session at the Dead Sea, Day 5 or 6: a longer mineral treatment after the float. Ask at booking about timing.
- Room decoration on arrival, Day 1: flowers and a cake in your Amman room, arranged on request.

FamilyTravelled with my parents who are in their late 50s. Tripstor recommended two full acclimatization days in Leh before any high-altitude drives and that made a real difference. Tso Moriri was quieter than Pangong and honestly more worth the drive.
FriendsThree friends and I did a 9-night Australia package with stops in Melbourne and Sydney. We spent an afternoon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and caught a local match. Tripstor sorted our group visa applications together which saved a lot of back and forth. Good experience overall.
CoupleNorway is expensive but the experience is worth planning for. We did the Flam Railway and the Sognefjord on Day 5. Tripstor gave us a realistic budget breakdown before we booked, which I appreciated. No surprises on the ground.
