A closer look at this 7-night journey through Jordan— who it's built for, what you'll experience, and why the pace works.
Journey notes
Why this route works
What is a Jordan family tour package?
A Jordan family tour package is a fixed land itinerary in which hotels, transfers and sightseeing are paced for children and older adults. It uses private vehicles, limited daily distances and set rest windows rather than a full sightseeing day.
This version builds the week on one idea: a relaxed Amman Citadel morning and a Dead Sea float that a five-year-old and a seventy-year-old can both manage. Jerash, Madaba and Mount Nebo fill the remaining days without a single long transfer, and the same two hotel bases are used so luggage moves only twice.
How the days are paced for children and grandparents
Each day carries one main site in the morning, a lighter stop after lunch and an early dinner near the hotel. No day starts before 8am, and a free afternoon sits in the middle of the Dead Sea stay.
- Amman, Days 2 and 3: Citadel and Roman Theatre on one day, then a day trip north to Jerash and Ajlun.
- Madaba and Mount Nebo, Day 4: the mosaic map and the valley viewpoint on the drive south, so they need no separate day.
- Sweimeh, Days 4 to 6: two nights of floating, pool time and rest at the Dead Sea.
- Back in Amman, Days 7 and 8: a light shopping evening, then the airport transfer.
Day-wise timings can shift with site opening hours and season, so confirm the final flow at booking.
Why this route suits families better than a fast Jordan loop
This route suits families because the longest road stretch is about 1.5 hours, against 3.5 hours or more on any plan that adds Petra. Fewer hotel changes and short transfers mean fewer tired children and fewer difficult mornings for elders.
Grandparents get paved paths and railings at the Citadel and Mount Nebo, with benches for resting. Children get the Roman Theatre steps, the long colonnaded street at Jerash and hotel pools. Petra and Wadi Rum are left out on purpose: they add distance, heat and early starts, and suit a second trip when the children are older.
When is the best time to visit Jordan from India?
The best time to visit Jordan from India for a family is March to May or September to November. Daytime highs stay roughly between 14 and 29 C in those months, which is comfortable for children and elders.
| Season | Months | Typical temperature and conditions | Fit for families |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spring | March to May | 7-27 C, low rain, crowds and prices rise through April and May | Very good; book hotels early for April and May |
| Summer | June to August | 17-32 C on average, sites often feel hotter, almost no rain, lower crowds | Manageable only with early-morning sightseeing |
| Autumn | September to November | 9-29 C, low to moderate rain, October is peak | Very good; October needs early booking |
| Winter | December to February | 3-14 C, highest rainfall in northern and central areas, lower prices | Good with layers; carry a rain backup plan |
As of 2026, official guidance notes that heavy rain can close Petra's Siq because of flash-flood risk. This itinerary does not include Petra, but winter showers can still slow drives to Jerash and Ajlun.
What affects the Jordan trip cost for a family?
The Jordan trip cost for this package starts at Rs.86,000 per person on twin sharing, land only. Hotel class, room type, travel month and the number of private transfers move the final figure up or down.
- Budget 3-star stays: approximately Rs.64,500 per person.
- Standard 3-4 star stays (this package): Rs.86,000 per person.
- Premium 5-star stays: approximately Rs.1,37,500 per person.
These are indicative tiers per person, and final rates are confirmed at booking. JETT buses run on the Amman to Petra and Amman to Aqaba routes but do not serve Jerash, the Dead Sea or the desert castles directly, so this plan uses private cars. Meals other than breakfast, entrance tickets and tips are usually outside a land package, so ask for a written inclusion sheet before paying. You can see how other itineraries are priced on the Jordan tour packages page.
Jordan travel tips for families with kids and elders
Plan around heat, water and paperwork. Most problems on a family trip to Jordan come from the midday sun, long walks without shade and missing documents at hotel check-in.
- Carry refillable water bottles; shops and kiosks thin out beyond Amman.
- Pack sun hats, light full-sleeve cottons and a light jacket for cool evenings.
- Keep passports, visa printouts and children's ID in one folder for check-ins and airport desks.
- Rinse off straight after the Dead Sea float and keep water away from eyes and cuts.
- Carry regular medicines in original packaging with the prescription.
Kid and elder logistics on this route
Families travel in one private air-conditioned vehicle, with seating arranged so children sit near the door and elders near the front. Drives are short, and the driver can stop for snacks, toilets and photographs.
- Seats and rooms: ask for family or connecting rooms and lower-floor rooms for elders at booking.
- Strollers and wheelchairs: the Citadel, Jerash and Mount Nebo have a mix of paved and uneven stone, so a compact stroller works better than a large one. Wheelchair access varies by site; confirm at booking.
- Rest stops: the longest drive is about 1.5 hours on the Jerash day. Tell the driver if you need a break earlier.
- Snacks: carry biscuits, fruit and dry snacks for children, as roadside choices are limited.
Highlights by age group
Each age group gets at least one stop built around its own energy level. The week is shared between all three groups rather than aimed at one.
Younger children
- Floating in the Dead Sea for 10 to 15 minutes with an adult beside them.
- Climbing the stepped seating at the Roman Theatre in Amman.
- Hotel pool time on the free afternoon.
Teenagers
- Walking the full colonnaded street at Jerash and spotting the oval plaza.
- Climbing to the Ajlun hilltop castle for the view.
- Finding the Holy Land on the Madaba mosaic map.
Grandparents
- Seated views from the Amman Citadel terraces and Mount Nebo viewpoint.
- Unhurried pool and spa-side rest at Sweimeh.
- Short, flat walks near the hotel in Amman after an early dinner.
Daily rhythm, rest and driving times
The daily rhythm is one main site before lunch, a rest or light stop after, and dinner by 7pm. This keeps young children on a sleep schedule and gives elders a proper break in the hottest hours.
| Drive | Approximate time | Day |
|---|---|---|
| Queen Alia International Airport to Amman hotel | 35-55 minutes, depending on traffic | Day 1 and Day 8 |
| Amman to Jerash | About 1 hour | Day 3 |
| Ajlun back to Amman | About 1.5 hours | Day 3 |
| Dead Sea back to Amman | About 1 hour | Day 7 |
Day 6 has no fixed sightseeing. It is a deliberate buffer for tired children, a slow start for elders or a second float for anyone who wants it.
Rooms, meals and comfort
Standard 3-4 star hotels in Amman and at the Dead Sea usually offer family rooms or connecting rooms on request. Breakfast is included daily, and most hotels cook plain rice, dal, pasta, grilled chicken and vegetables for children.
Vegetarian meals are widely available in hotel restaurants, and Jain requests such as no onion or garlic should be sent at booking and repeated at check-in. Outside hotels, vegetarian choices narrow, so carry dry snacks for the road. Meal plans beyond breakfast are confirmed at booking.
Where you stay: Amman and the Dead Sea at Sweimeh
The trip uses two bases: central Amman for four nights across the start and end, and the Sweimeh area on the Dead Sea for two nights. Both are chosen for short transfers and easy rooms rather than for resort size.
- Budget 3-star (approx Rs.64,500 per person): clean, simple rooms in Amman, with a smaller choice of rooms at the Dead Sea.
- Standard 3-4 star (Rs.86,000 per person, default): mid-range hotels in central Amman, such as the Jabal Amman area, and a Dead Sea resort with a pool, beach access and family rooms.
- Premium 5-star (approx Rs.1,37,500 per person): larger Sweimeh resorts with spa facilities and bigger rooms, plus upper-class hotels in Amman.
Hotel names are confirmed at booking according to availability in your travel month. The tiers above are indicative per-person rates for context.
Jordan entry, money and flights for Indian travellers

FriendsThree friends and I did a 9-night Australia package with stops in Melbourne and Sydney. We spent an afternoon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and caught a local match. Tripstor sorted our group visa applications together which saved a lot of back and forth. Good experience overall.
HoneymoonHoneymooned in Kashmir for 7 nights in May. Gulmarg had light snow still and we got a gondola ride on Day 4. The tulip garden in Srinagar was in full bloom. Tripstor arranged a candlelit dinner on the houseboat which was a nice touch.
CoupleNorway is expensive but the experience is worth planning for. We did the Flam Railway and the Sognefjord on Day 5. Tripstor gave us a realistic budget breakdown before we booked, which I appreciated. No surprises on the ground.
