Journey notes
Why this route works
What is a Myanmar family package?
A Myanmar family package is a ready-planned holiday that fixes hotels, transfers and sightseeing around the needs of children and elders. On this route, the plan covers three nights in Yangon, five nights at Ngapali Beach in Thandwe, and a final night in Yangon before departure. The land-only price of Rs.1,03,000 per person assumes twin sharing in Standard 3-4 star hotels.
Myanmar family tour from India: the short answer
This trip suits parents travelling with children and grandparents who want culture and beach time without long drives. It features the Yangon Circular Train, an evening at Shwedagon Pagoda and several free days at Ngapali Beach. The only inter-city leg is a short domestic flight between Yangon and Thandwe.
Day-by-day plan at a glance
Days 1 to 3 are in Yangon, days 4 to 8 are at Ngapali Beach, and days 9 and 10 bring you back to Yangon for departure. Mornings start late enough for children, and most afternoons are left open for rest. The full day-wise schedule is listed in the itinerary section of this page.
Inclusions and exclusions
The price covers hotels, daily breakfast, private transfers and the sightseeing named in the plan. International flights, the visa fee, domestic flight tickets and most lunches and dinners are not included. The full lists sit in the inclusions and exclusions blocks on this page, and anything unconfirmed is marked for confirmation at booking.
Kid and elder logistics
Ask for adjoining or family rooms when you enquire, and tell us if anyone needs a wheelchair or a ground-floor room. Private cars are used for every transfer, so stops for snacks, water and toilet breaks can be made whenever needed. The longest road leg on this plan is the drive between Thandwe airport and the beach resort. Folding strollers fit easily in a private car, but pavements in Yangon can be uneven.
Why this works for families
This route keeps travel short and sightseeing light, which suits mixed ages. Ngapali Beach gives children a shoreline to play on and gives elders shade and flat ground. The Yangon Circular Train shows daily city life from a seat, with no trek involved.
- Both the circular train and Ngapali Beach are listed in our research as accessible, family-friendly activities.
- Yangon International Airport is about 16 km north of downtown, so the first transfer is short.
- Beach days outnumber sightseeing days, so nobody is rushed.
- Adults can take a spa hour or a walk while children stay close to the hotel.
Highlights by age group
Each age group gets something of its own on this route.
Younger children
- Seat by the window on the Yangon Circular Train
- Sand play and shallow-water time at Ngapali Beach
- Watching fishing boats come in at a village near the beach
Teenagers
- Evening at Shwedagon Pagoda with a guide who explains the history
- Downtown Yangon walk with colonial-era buildings and a market stop
- Coastal boat ride, if the sea is calm
Grandparents
- Seated train ride with no walking
- Shaded beach mornings and long rest windows
- Private car for every transfer, with no long drives
Pace, rest and logistics
The daily rhythm is one main activity a day, a lunch break and a rest window after midday. Yangon days have short outings of two to three hours each. Ngapali days have no fixed sightseeing except the fishing-village morning. The longest travel day is Day 4, with a transfer, a short flight and a drive to the resort, and the same pattern repeats in reverse on Day 9.
Rooms, meals and comfort
Rooms are in Standard 3-4 star hotels, and family or connecting rooms are subject to availability at booking. Breakfast is included daily. Vegetarian meals are usually available at hotels with advance notice, and children can be served plain rice, noodles, eggs or fruit. Jain food can be requested but is not guaranteed outside hotels, so carry dry snacks.
Travelling with kids and elders: five tips
- Carry basic medicines and prescriptions, as pharmacies at Ngapali are small.
- Pack light cotton clothes, a hat and sunscreen for the beach, and a light layer for cooler December and January mornings.
- Dress modestly for Shwedagon Pagoda, with covered shoulders and knees, and expect to remove shoes.
- Keep passport copies for every traveller, stored apart from the originals, and carry the children's birth certificates.
- Agree the price before taking a tuk-tuk or shared taxi; Grab taxis in Yangon typically cost US$2-8 as of October 2026.
When is the best time to visit Myanmar from India?
November to February is the best window for this trip. It is the cool and dry season, with clear skies and low rainfall, and prices and crowds stay low. The table below shows the months this route works best.
| Month | Temperature range | Rain | Crowds | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| November | 18-32 C | Low | Very low | Low |
| December | 15-32 C | Low | Very low | Low |
| January | 15-32 C | Low | Low | Low |
| February | 18-34 C | Low | Low | Low |
| March | 25-36 C | Low | Very low | Medium |
The hot season runs from March to mid-May, and April can touch about 40 C. Heavy monsoon rain arrives from mid-May to October, especially on the coast, and July and August are usually the wettest. We do not recommend this beach itinerary in those months.
What drives the Myanmar trip cost?
The listed price is Rs.1,03,000 per person, land only, on twin sharing. Four things move the final figure: hotel category, travel month, number of children sharing rooms, and domestic flight fares between Yangon and Thandwe, which are quoted separately at booking.
Where families stay: Yangon city hotels and Ngapali beach resorts
This trip uses city hotels in Yangon and beach resorts at Ngapali, all in the Standard 3-4 star range. Yangon is a colonial city with the Shwedagon Pagoda and a food scene, and it suits families. Ngapali Beach is a sea-and-sand stop that suits families and couples. Indicative tiers per person are below, for context only.
- Budget 3-star (approx Rs.77,500): simpler rooms and fewer facilities, same route.
- Standard 3-4 star (Rs.1,03,000, included here): comfortable rooms, breakfast daily, pool or beach access at Ngapali.
- Premium 5-star (approx Rs.1,65,000): larger rooms, more on-site dining and services.
Hotel names are confirmed at booking based on availability for your dates.
Myanmar entry, money and flights for Indian travellers
Indian passport holders need a visa for Myanmar. Check the official government portal for the application route and the current fee before booking. The local currency is the Myanmar kyat, and we do not quote an exchange rate because it moves. Travellers from Delhi and Kolkata reach Yangon International Airport. Confirm current routings, flight times and fares with us at booking. As of September 2026, the World Bank reports that passenger traffic remains far below pre-pandemic levels, with reduced services at many gateways, so keep buffer time around flights.
