Why this route works
What the Five Days Cover
This Maldives group tour package spans two resort islands in the Malé atolls, both reachable by speedboat in 30 to 90 minutes from Velana International Airport. Six experiences are confirmed before departure.
- Overwater villa stay: Two nights in a water villa on a resort island in North or South Malé Atoll, with direct lagoon access from the villa deck.
- Sandbank dinner: A private group dinner set up on a bare sandbank, with a boat transfer and a pre-arranged set menu for the whole group.
- Reef snorkelling: A guided house-reef and lagoon session with masks, fins and life jackets provided by the resort dive centre.
- Diving for certified guests: One guided boat dive in North or South Malé Atoll; non-certified guests take a discover-scuba session instead.
- Group water sports slot: Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and a banana-boat run, bundled at a group rate.
- Malé half day: A short visit to the capital on Day 5 for local cafés, teashops and hedhikaa short eats before the airport transfer.
Why Friends Book This Route
The itinerary keeps the group on one island for the first three nights and moves once, so there is no daily packing or repeated check-in. Speedboat seats are priced per person in the Maldives, and pooling them across a group of 8 to 30 is where the real saving happens.
Evenings after dinner are unstructured, and the optional activities list lets part of the group dive while others stay on the beach. A single on-ground coordinator manages all transfers and activity timings, so no one person in the group has to chase logistics.
Best Time to Visit Maldives from India
January to March is the dry northeast monsoon season, with temperatures between 25 and 32 C, low rainfall, high demand and peak room rates. December and April are transition months with moderate rain and medium crowds.
Mid-May to November is the southwest monsoon, with heavy rain spells, low crowds and the lowest resort rates of the year. Heat and humidity remain high throughout the year and peak between March and July. Groups travelling on a fixed budget often choose June or September for the same itinerary at a lower per-person cost.
What a Maldives Group Trip Costs
The Rs.85,000 per person figure (land only, twin sharing, as of 2026) covers accommodation, stated meals, speedboat transfers, the included activities and on-ground coordination. Three cost drivers move the final number: room category, transfer type and travel month.
| Stay Tier | Room Type | Indicative Price Per Person |
|---|---|---|
| Budget 3-star | Beach-front standard room, speedboat transfers, breakfast | Approx Rs.64,000 |
| Standard 4-star (default) | Beach villa + two nights water villa, half board | Rs.85,000 |
| Premium 5-star | Overwater villa throughout, premium dining, private speedboat | Approx Rs.1,36,000 |
Seaplane transfers to distant atolls cost more than speedboat transfers and are not included in this itinerary. Group rates apply once the room block is confirmed, so early booking matters for January to March dates.
Group Size and How Logistics Work
This itinerary is designed for 8 to 30 travellers. Speedboat transfers are pooled across the group, and rooms are arranged on twin sharing. An on-ground coordinator joins the group from airport arrival to departure and manages transfer timings, activity slots and resort check-ins. Odd numbers in the group usually mean one single-supplement room; confirm this at booking.
What This Package Covers — and Who It Suits
The package covers four nights of accommodation, daily breakfast, stated dinners, return speedboat transfers, the snorkelling session, one dive or discover-scuba, the water sports slot, the sandbank dinner and the Malé half day. It suits friend groups of 8 or more who want a structured island trip without managing individual bookings, and who are comfortable sharing rooms and a common daily schedule.
What Is Not Included
- International airfare from Delhi and any domestic connections
- Maldives visa on arrival charges, if applicable at the time of travel — check the official Maldives immigration portal
- Travel insurance and overseas medical cover
- Lunches and dinners not listed in the confirmed itinerary
- Alcoholic drinks, spa treatments and personal shopping
- Additional dives, extra excursions or water sports beyond the included sessions
- Green tax or environmental levy if revised by the resort — confirm at booking
How the Five Days Are Organised
The route is compact by design. Both resorts sit in the Malé atolls, so all transfers are by speedboat rather than seaplane, which keeps transfer time short and predictable. Days 2 and 3 hold all the water activities back to back, so the group is not splitting up across multiple days. The single island move on Day 4 is timed after breakfast, leaving the afternoon free at the water villa.
Ways to Save or Stretch the Budget
- Travel in May, June or September for the lowest resort rates; expect some rain in the afternoons but clear mornings most days.
- Choose a beach villa for two nights and a water villa for one night instead of water villas throughout — the price difference is significant.
- Use a shared speedboat transfer rather than a private charter; the per-person cost drops sharply with a full group.
- Book the sandbank dinner once for the whole group on one evening rather than splitting it across nights.
- Eat the included breakfast fully each morning and keep resort lunches light to manage daily spend.
Who Should Pick Something Else
This trip is not suited to travellers who want road journeys, hill stations or overland routes — the islands are flat and all movement is by boat or aircraft. Anyone wanting a quiet two-person trip will find a group pace too social. Guests who need step-free access at every point should check villa and boat boarding arrangements before confirming. If four nights feels too short, a longer Maldives itinerary works better for covering more atolls.
Where You Stay: Malé Atoll Resort Islands
All stays on this trip are on resort islands in North or South Malé Atoll, reached by speedboat from Velana International Airport. The default package places guests in a beach villa or deluxe room for the first two nights and upgrades to a water villa for nights three and four. Hotel names are shared at the quotation stage; no brand names are confirmed here.
The three indicative tiers in the cost table above show what each budget level gets in terms of room type, meal plan and transfer style. Premium-tier stays use private speedboats and include a full dining plan; budget-tier stays use shared speedboats and breakfast only.
Entry, Money and Flights: Maldives for Indian Travellers
Indian passport holders receive a free visa on arrival in the Maldives, issued at Velana International Airport on presentation of a valid passport, a confirmed return ticket and proof of accommodation. Confirm the current entry conditions on the official Maldives immigration portal before travel, as rules can change. The local currency is the Maldivian rufiyaa; resorts bill in US dollars, so carry some dollars for tips and incidental purchases. Direct flights from Delhi to Malé take roughly four to four-and-a-half hours; connections via Colombo or other hubs are also common. Flight fares change daily — check and book separately at the time of reservation.
