Why this route works
What a Leh Ladakh group tour package covers day to day
This Leh Ladakh group tour package runs the classic circuit at group pace: one coach or tempo traveller per 8 to 10 travellers, a fixed daily plan and one coordinator on the ground. Leh sightseeing comes first while everyone acclimatises, then the route climbs to Nubra and Pangong.
Rooms are twin sharing in standard 3-4 star hotels and guesthouses in Leh, with a camp or guesthouse stay in Nubra and at the lake. Breakfast and dinner are part of the plan; lunches are paid locally.
Key experiences on the Pangong, Nubra and Leh route
Six stops define this trip. Each one is either a fixed part of the itinerary or a clearly marked optional add-on.
- Pangong Tso: an evening and a night at the high-altitude lake in eastern Ladakh, with time to walk the shoreline at sunset.
- Nubra Valley: a former caravan-trade route linked to the Silk Route, reached over Khardung La with an overnight stay in the valley.
- Khardung La biking: an optional downhill ride from the pass, arranged locally, for those in the group who want it.
- Zanskar rafting: a seasonal option near the Indus-Zanskar Sangam, subject to water levels and operator availability.
- Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa: the 17th-century nine-storey palace above the old city and the hilltop white stupa with views over Leh.
- Thiksey Monastery: a monastery 19 km from Leh, described as resembling the Potala Palace, visited on the way back from Pangong.
Why group departures cost less per head
Shared vehicles and group-rate rooms bring the per-person cost down to Rs.17,500 on land-only twin sharing. Permits, check-ins and driver coordination are handled by one person for the whole batch, so nobody has to chase drivers or negotiate rates.
The pace is set by the slowest member of the group. At Leh's altitude that matters, because rapid ascent above 3,500 m can cause serious altitude illness.
Best time to visit Leh Ladakh from across India
June to September gives the most dependable road access, with both the Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh highways generally open. As of 2026, the Srinagar-Leh route was reported accessible from early April and Manali-Leh was expected to open by late May.
| Month | Typical temperature | Crowds and prices |
|---|---|---|
| May | 5 to 22 C | Low crowds, low prices; some passes still snow-affected |
| June | 10 to 28 C | Medium crowds, medium prices |
| July and August | 15 to 33 C | High crowds, peak prices; monsoon landslides can affect the Manali-Leh road |
| September | 8 to 25 C | Low crowds, medium prices |
| October | 0 to 18 C | Low crowds, low prices; winter closures approaching |
Cost of a Leh Ladakh trip for a group
The listed Rs.17,500 per person covers land arrangements on twin sharing. Return flights to Leh, lunches, optional activities and personal spending are extra. A Delhi to Leh direct flight takes about 1 hour 15 minutes; fares change daily, so check them when you book.
The final figure depends on your travel month, room category and how many travellers confirm together. A fuller view of departures is on our Leh Ladakh tour packages page.
Leh Ladakh travel tips for groups
Keep the first 24 to 48 hours in Leh light. Drink water regularly, avoid alcohol on arrival and carry any prescribed medicines in your hand luggage.
- Carry warm layers even in July; nights at Pangong and Nubra are cold.
- Tell the coordinator early if anyone has a heart, lung or blood-pressure condition.
- Keep a government photo ID ready for permit checks.
- Carry some cash; ATMs and mobile networks are patchy outside Leh.
Who should pick another trip
This route is not ideal for travellers who cannot spare a rest period after landing in Leh, or who dislike early starts and long drives. Nubra to Pangong and the return over Chang La are full driving days.
Young children and people with heart, lung or serious blood-pressure problems should take medical advice first. The cited Ladakh guides describe long drives at altitude as hard on small children. If you want a slower pace, a private departure with more nights is a better fit.
Stay in Leh, Nubra and the Pangong lakeside
Stays are standard 3-4 star category, with camps or guesthouses outside Leh. Hotel names are confirmed in your voucher at booking.
| Tier | Indicative price per person | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Budget 3-star | Approx Rs.13,000 | Simple rooms in Leh, basic camps or guesthouses at Nubra and Pangong |
| Standard 3-4 star (this package) | Rs.17,500 | Central Leh hotels near the market and Fort Road area, mid-range Nubra camp, lakeside camp at Pangong |
| Premium 5-star | Approx Rs.28,000 | Higher-category Leh hotels and better-equipped tented camps outside the city |
Leh's Main Bazaar and Fort Road area keeps you within walking distance of the market and restaurants. Camps in Nubra and at the lake are basic by city standards; hot water and power can be limited.
Access to Leh and what to know before you go
Most groups fly into Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL), and the direct flight from Delhi takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. Road access runs through the Srinagar-Leh and Manali-Leh highways when open; the Srinagar-Leh route is 434 km, usually done over two days with a night at Kargil.
Inner Line Permits are needed for Nubra and Pangong, and our ground team arranges them. The UT administration announced a review of the permit system in August 2026, so confirm current rules at booking. Snow and landslides can close passes, and mobile connectivity is unreliable outside Leh.

HoneymoonHoneymooned in Kashmir for 7 nights in May. Gulmarg had light snow still and we got a gondola ride on Day 4. The tulip garden in Srinagar was in full bloom. Tripstor arranged a candlelit dinner on the houseboat which was a nice touch.
