Why this route works
What This Honeymoon Route Covers
This Bali honeymoon tour package splits five nights between Ubud and the southern coast, so you unpack twice and still cover rice terraces, a cliff temple and a beach sunset. Most Bali trips try to cover five or six areas; this one stays in two, which means less time in a car and more time at the stay.
Days are structured loosely. Two are travel days, two have one or two fixed sights, and two are almost entirely free. The itinerary is built for couples, not groups, so timings can shift by an hour or two without breaking anything.
Moments to Plan Around
Four specific moments anchor this route, each tied to a day and a time of day so you can plan around them.
- First morning in Ubud (Day 2): Breakfast overlooking the rice terraces before the day-trippers arrive. Leave the hotel by 10am at the latest.
- Tegalalang terrace walk (Day 2): Go early, around 8am if you can, for softer light and fewer people on the path. The terraces are busiest between 10am and 1pm.
- Uluwatu sunset (Day 4): The cliff temple faces west. Arrive by 4:30pm to find a good spot near the outer wall before the Kecak performance crowd settles in.
- Private beach dinner (Day 5): A set menu for two on the sand or in a villa garden, timed to finish after the sun goes down. This is the one evening with a fixed reservation.
Why This Trip Suits Couples
Privacy on this route comes from the stay style and the pace, not just the destination. Ubud properties typically sit behind garden walls with small private pools, and the southern coast resorts have adult sections and quieter stretches of sand away from the main beach clubs.
Both signature places work well for two people. The Tegalalang rice terraces are a walk, not a guided tour, so you set your own pace. Uluwatu is a sunset stop rather than a full-day excursion, which keeps Day 4 from feeling rushed after the drive south from Ubud.
Romantic Highlights
- Walking the upper path at Tegalalang rice terraces in the early morning, before the main crowd arrives.
- A couples' spa session in Ubud — the area is specifically associated with jungle spas and wellness treatments.
- Watching the Kecak fire dance at Uluwatu Temple as the sun drops behind the cliff.
- A private dinner for two on a Jimbaran or Seminyak beach, with a set menu and no shared tables.
- A two-hour photography session at the terraces or the cliff, booked with a local photographer on Day 3 or Day 4.
- A slow morning at a Seminyak beach club on Day 5, before the evening dinner reservation.
How the Days Flow
The pace is deliberately unhurried. Day 1 is arrival and check-in only — no sightseeing. Day 2 has one temple and the terrace walk, with the afternoon open. Day 3 is the lightest day: a morning at the Ubud market and free time from lunch onwards. Day 4 is the longest in the car, with the drive south and the Uluwatu visit in the evening. Day 5 is free until the private dinner. Day 6 is checkout and the airport run.
Late starts are built into Days 2 and 5. If your flight lands late on Day 1, nothing on Day 2 is affected. The only time-sensitive slot across the six days is the Uluwatu sunset on Day 4 — everything else has flexibility of an hour or more.
Choosing the Right Stay Style for a Couple
In Ubud, a room with a private plunge pool and a garden or valley view gives you the quiet mornings the area is known for. Ground-floor pool rooms are common in mid-range Ubud properties; ask for one away from the reception area if noise matters to you.
On the southern coast, a sea-view room in Seminyak or Jimbaran puts restaurants and the beach within a short drive or walk. Jimbaran is calmer and better for the beach dinner; Seminyak has more cafés and beach clubs if you want activity on Day 5. Both work for this itinerary. Ask for a high floor or a corner room for more privacy.
Best Months for a Bali Honeymoon
May, June and September are the most practical months for a couple's trip — dry weather, medium crowds and mid-range prices. July and August are the driest months but also the busiest and most expensive. April and October are transition months with moderate rain and medium pricing.
| Month | Rain | Crowds | Price level |
|---|---|---|---|
| May, Jun, Sep | Low | Medium | Medium |
| Jul, Aug | Low | High | Peak |
| Apr, Oct | Moderate | Medium | Medium |
| Nov, Mar | Moderate to heavy | Low | Low |
| Dec, Jan, Feb | Heavy | Low to high | Low to peak |
Note that Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, causes island-wide restrictions including airport closure for one full day each year. Check the date before booking if you are travelling in March.
Add-Ons Worth Considering
Each of these fits a specific day on the route without disrupting the pace.
- Couples' spa session: A 60 or 90-minute treatment in Ubud. Best on Day 2 afternoon or Day 3 afternoon when the schedule is lightest. Ubud is specifically associated with spa and wellness, so options are easy to find.
- Private dinner upgrade: If the included beach dinner is not enough, a villa garden dinner on Day 3 in Ubud adds a second romantic evening before you move south.
- Local photographer: A two-hour shoot at Tegalalang on Day 2 morning or at Uluwatu on Day 4 at sunset. Book in advance; slots at the terraces fill up by 9am.
- Sunset cruise: A short evening sail from Benoa Harbour. Works on Day 5 as an alternative to the beach dinner if you prefer the water. Confirm availability at booking.

HoneymoonHoneymooned in Kashmir for 7 nights in May. Gulmarg had light snow still and we got a gondola ride on Day 4. The tulip garden in Srinagar was in full bloom. Tripstor arranged a candlelit dinner on the houseboat which was a nice touch.
FamilyTravelled with my parents who are in their late 50s. Tripstor recommended two full acclimatization days in Leh before any high-altitude drives and that made a real difference. Tso Moriri was quieter than Pangong and honestly more worth the drive.
FamilyBooked a family package for 7 nights covering Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil. The Cellular Jail light and sound show on Day 1 set a good tone for the trip. Kids were engaged throughout and the itinerary was not too rushed.
