Journey notes
Why this route works
What is an Azerbaijan family package?
An Azerbaijan family package is a ready-planned holiday where hotels, transfers and sightseeing are arranged for a group that includes children and elders. This one keeps all six nights in Baku, with Gobustan and the Absheron Peninsula as the two day trips.
Nothing on this route needs a long mountain drive. Gobustan is a half-day trip from the city and Absheron is a half-day loop, so children are not stuck in the vehicle for hours and grandparents get a proper rest after lunch. Families who later want Gabala, Sheki or Shahdag can look at the wider Azerbaijan tour packages list.
Azerbaijan family tour package from India: the short answer
This is a 6-night, 7-day Baku-based plan for parents, children and grandparents, priced at Rs.37,000 per person (land only, twin sharing, flights excluded). It suits families who want one hotel base, short transfers and easy sightseeing, with April to June and September to October as the best months.

Day-by-day plan for this trip
The seven-day schedule is listed in the itinerary section of this page: arrival and rest on Day 1, the Old City on Day 2, Gobustan on Day 3, Absheron on Day 4, a free-paced Day 5, a family choice day on Day 6 and departure on Day 7. Each outing returns to the same Baku hotel, so nobody repacks or changes rooms.
What is included and what is not
The price covers six nights in standard 3-4 star hotels, daily breakfast, airport transfers, a private vehicle for sightseeing, and the Gobustan, Absheron and Old City programme. Flights, visa, insurance, most lunches and dinners, tips and personal spending are extra. The full lists are given in the inclusions and exclusions sections, and anything we cannot confirm today is marked to be confirmed at booking.
Kid and elder logistics
Seating, room set-up and rest stops are planned around the slowest member of the group. Ask for a vehicle with enough seats for your family plus luggage, and request ground-floor or lift-access rooms for grandparents. Gobustan has uneven ground, so a baby carrier works better than a stroller there. Plan a snack and water stop on both day-trip drives, and keep wheelchair or walking-aid needs on record at booking so the guide can choose shorter routes.
Why this route works for parents and grandparents
Short transfers, shared activities and easy food are the three reasons. You are based in one city for all six nights, so there is no daily packing, and each outing returns to the same hotel for a rest.
The sightseeing is easy to follow without much explanation. Children can look for carved figures on the Gobustan rocks, while elders walk the marked trail at their own speed. In Baku, the metro runs on three lines from roughly 06:00 to midnight, and the BakiKart card used for the metro and city buses is bought and topped up at metro stations.
Highlights by age group
Younger children
- Spotting carved figures on the Gobustan rock trail
- A short Baku Metro ride with a BakiKart card
- Climbing and looking out from the Maiden Tower area in the Old City
Teenagers
- Reading the rock engravings with the guide and taking photos
- The Absheron Peninsula loop with short, varied stops
- Free time in a Baku shopping area on the family choice day
Grandparents
- Slow guided walk through Icherisheher with benches and museum breaks
- Half-day trips only, with a hotel rest after lunch
- A free morning on Day 5 with no early start
Pace, rest and daily rhythm
Mornings start after a relaxed breakfast, sightseeing ends by mid-afternoon, and dinner is early. Gobustan and Absheron are both half-day outings, and Day 5 and Day 6 are deliberately light. In June to August, Baku reaches about 30-32 C, so outdoor stops are kept to the morning and children rest at the hotel after lunch.
Rooms, meals and comfort
Standard 3-4 star hotels in Baku usually offer twin and triple rooms, and some can arrange a connecting or family room; confirm the exact room type at booking. Breakfast is included daily. Vegetarian dishes are easy to find in Baku, and plov, the national rice dish, comes in regional versions. Plain rice, bread and simple children's meals are widely available. Jain meals need an advance request, so mention it when you book.
Travelling with kids and elders: five tips
- Carry a light jacket even in summer, because Baku is windy near the Caspian coast.
- Book Gobustan for the morning, when the site is cooler.
- Carry each child's passport copy and birth details for check-in and any age-based pricing.
- Pack regular medicines in hand luggage with prescriptions, plus a basic first-aid kit for children.
- For wet months, October and November have the most rain (about 39 mm and 45 mm), so pack a compact umbrella or raincoat.
Visa rules for Indian passport holders are covered in the Azerbaijan visa for Indians guide, and the main Azerbaijan travel guide covers the wider country.
Where families stay in Baku
Standard 3-4 star hotels in central Baku are the base for all six nights. Central areas such as the Old City and Nasimi district keep the sights, the metro and Nizami Street within easy reach, which suits short outings with children. Districts such as Khatai and Narimanov sit a few kilometres from Nizami Street and are usually cheaper.
As indicative per-person tiers, a budget 3-star version would run about Rs.28,000, the standard 3-4 star plan on this page is Rs.37,000, and a premium 5-star version would be about Rs.59,000. Hotel names are confirmed at booking.
Entry, money and flights for Indian travellers to Azerbaijan
Indian passport holders need a visa for Azerbaijan, applied for through the official government e-visa route; check the official portal for the current fee and processing time. The local currency is the Azerbaijani manat (AZN); check the day's rate before you exchange. Direct flights between India and Baku were listed at three per day in October 2026, so flying time and fares depend on your departure city and date; confirm at booking. For month-wise weather, see the best time to visit Azerbaijan guide.
Day-to-day spending in Baku is modest: the metro is about 0.60 AZN per ride, city buses about 0.50 AZN, and a Bolt taxi within Baku roughly 3-7 AZN, based on recent traveller reports.

FamilyBooked a family package for 7 nights covering Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil. The Cellular Jail light and sound show on Day 1 set a good tone for the trip. Kids were engaged throughout and the itinerary was not too rushed.
FriendsThree friends and I did a 9-night Australia package with stops in Melbourne and Sydney. We spent an afternoon at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and caught a local match. Tripstor sorted our group visa applications together which saved a lot of back and forth. Good experience overall.
HoneymoonHoneymooned in Kashmir for 7 nights in May. Gulmarg had light snow still and we got a gondola ride on Day 4. The tulip garden in Srinagar was in full bloom. Tripstor arranged a candlelit dinner on the houseboat which was a nice touch.
