Package overview
The thinking behind this journey.
A closer look at this 7-night journey through Portugal— who it's built for, what you'll experience, and why the pace works.
Journey notes
Why this route works
What is a Portugal honeymoon package?
A Portugal honeymoon package is a ready-made couple's itinerary covering hotels, airport transfers, selected sightseeing and a few planned dinners, with flights booked separately. This one runs 7 nights in standard 3-4 star hotels and keeps the route short: Lisbon, a full day in Sintra, and a coastal break at Cascais or Estoril.
Mornings start late where possible, afternoons carry the sightseeing, and evenings stay open for dinners or sunsets. Couples on this route tell us the free hours matter more than a long list of stops.
Moments to plan around
Four moments are worth building the week around, and each has a best day on the route. Book the ones that need tickets before you fly.
- First tram ride, Day 2: Take the historic tram through Alfama and Graça early in the day, before the carriages fill up, and get off at a viewpoint for the river and rooftops.
- Pena Palace entry, Day 4: Book a timed slot for the morning. Arriving first means shorter queues and softer light on the colourful walls.
- Private dinner for two, Day 5: Use the included dinner on your first coastal evening, when you have just arrived and nothing else is planned.
- Sunset by the water, Day 6: Keep the evening clear in Cascais and walk the seafront as the light drops, with no fixed dinner time.
Why this route suits couples
This route suits couples because it uses two bases only, keeps transfers short and leaves long stretches unscheduled. Lisbon gives you walkable evenings, while Sintra and the coast give quieter, more private hours.
- Privacy: Private airport and coastal transfers mean no shared coaches and no fixed pick-up times on most days.
- Setting: Sintra's palace grounds and the Cascais promenade are easy places for slow walks, with fewer crowds early in the day.
- Pace: Only one full-day excursion, so you are not repacking or catching early trains every morning.
Romantic highlights
Six experiences carry the romance on this trip, and each is placed on the day where it works best.
- Historic tram ride through Alfama, ending at Miradouro das Portas do Sol for a view over the Tagus.
- Pena Palace at opening time, with a timed entry so you walk the terraces before the tour groups arrive.
- Quinta da Regaleira gardens in Sintra, including the spiral initiation well, best visited in the late afternoon.
- Sunset at a Bairro Alto viewpoint, followed by a dinner you choose on the spot.
- Coastal drive to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, with a stop at Boca do Inferno on the way back.
- Evening walk along the Cascais promenade and marina, with a seafront dinner for two.
How the days flow
The days follow a fixed rhythm: a slow breakfast, one main activity, a long free afternoon and an open evening. Only Day 4 in Sintra needs an early start, because timed palace entry and train timings set the schedule.
Day 3 in Belém is a half-day, Day 6 on the coast is mostly free, and Day 7 is deliberately unscheduled so you can repeat a favourite spot or shop. Plan on roughly three to four hours of organised activity on most days.
Choosing the right stay style
Choose a room by setting and access rather than star rating. For couples, three things matter most: a view or a quiet street, a short walk to dinner, and easy transport links.
- Central Lisbon: Baixa-Chiado and Bairro Alto are central, walkable and lively in the evening. Príncipe Real is a more budget-friendly central option.
- Coast: Cascais and Estoril suit a quieter pace. Ask for a sea-facing or higher-floor room, and confirm the walking distance to the seafront at booking.
- Room type: Request a double bed rather than twin beds at booking and a quiet side of the building. Both are requests, not guarantees.
Best months for a couple's trip
June and September are the best months for a Portugal honeymoon, with Lisbon at about 24 C and 22 C and almost no rain. Late May is a good alternative, with roughly 20 C and lower prices than peak summer.
| Month | Average temperature | Rain | Crowds and prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| May | 20 C | 16 mm | Medium crowds, medium prices |
| June | 24 C | 0 mm | High crowds, peak prices |
| July-August | 25-26 C | 0 mm | High crowds, peak prices |
| September | 22 C | 2 mm | High crowds, peak prices |
| October | 21 C | 20 mm | Medium crowds, medium prices |
| November-March | 13-16 C | 12-22 mm | Low to medium crowds, low prices |
Rain falls mostly between October and April. Sintra is cooler and damper than Lisbon in any month, so carry a light jacket even in summer.
Add-ons worth considering
Four add-ons suit this route, and all are priced separately and confirmed at booking.
- Private dinner upgrade: Best on Day 5 or Day 7. It adds a pre-booked table at a higher-end restaurant with a set menu.
- Couple's photographer: Fits Day 4 in Sintra at opening time, when the palace terraces are quietest.
- Spa session: Fits the free afternoon on Day 6 or Day 7, depending on hotel facilities.
- Sunset sailing on the Tagus: Fits Day 3 or Day 7, subject to weather and boat availability.
Where you stay in Lisbon and on the coast
This package uses standard 3-4 star hotels, with five nights in central Lisbon and two on the coast. Hotel names are confirmed at booking. Indicative per-person price tiers, derived from the listed price, give you context:
- Budget 3-star, approx Rs.47,500: Simple, clean rooms in a less central location, with more walking or metro rides to reach the old town.
- Standard 4-star, Rs.63,000 (this package): Comfortable rooms in central Lisbon, with breakfast included and an easy walk to main sights.
- Premium 5-star, approx Rs.1,01,000: Larger rooms, better views and on-site dining. Central Lisbon luxury areas like Bairro Alto-Chiado carry the highest rates.
Lisbon charges a tourist tax of €4 per person per night, applicable for up to 7 nights per stay. It is paid at the hotel and is not part of the package price.
Entry, money and flights for Indian travellers to Portugal
Indian passport holders need a Schengen short-stay visa for Portugal. Apply through the official route described in the Portugal visa for Indians guide, and check the official portal for the current fee and documents. The local currency is the euro, and exchange rates change daily, so confirm the rate at the time of exchange.
Flights from Delhi to Lisbon take about 9 hours as of May 2026, with options also listed from Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kochi. Lisbon Airport is about 7 km from the city centre and has Red Line metro access. Compare other routes in our Portugal tour packages range before locking dates.
Costs and getting around Lisbon
The listed price is Rs.63,000 per person on twin sharing, land only, so the total for two is double that figure before flights. Airfare, travel month, hotel category and add-ons are the main cost drivers, and travel in June or September usually costs more than May or October. Confirm current prices at booking.
Lisbon public transport is inexpensive. As of 2026, a single Carris/Metro ticket costs €1.90 and a 24-hour Carris/Metro ticket costs €7.25. The Navegante card costs €0.50, and a 24-hour Carris/Metro/CP ticket that includes trains costs €11.40. Trains to Sintra and the coast run from Lisbon stations.
Share your dates and the moments that matter most; we will adjust the pace and stays to match.

CoupleNorway is expensive but the experience is worth planning for. We did the Flam Railway and the Sognefjord on Day 5. Tripstor gave us a realistic budget breakdown before we booked, which I appreciated. No surprises on the ground.
FamilyTravelled with my parents who are in their late 50s. Tripstor recommended two full acclimatization days in Leh before any high-altitude drives and that made a real difference. Tso Moriri was quieter than Pangong and honestly more worth the drive.
FamilyBooked a family package for 7 nights covering Port Blair, Havelock, and Neil. The Cellular Jail light and sound show on Day 1 set a good tone for the trip. Kids were engaged throughout and the itinerary was not too rushed.
